True Happiness, Richness of Soul and Heart
True Happiness, Richness of Soul and Heart
By Viola Woolcott
Lets face it, happiness can’t be found. It is a waste of time, effort and energy searching for happiness, peace, joy, contentment outside of ourselves as happiness lives inside of us. We make happiness. We choose happiness. It isn’t about owning a new car or moving into a new house. It isn’t about a new love or a much wanted pay rise, how many smiles we have a day, satisfaction at work, a new career, winning the lottery or owning a million dollars, neither is it some other kind of external happening or event. These are ‘only’ temporary pleasures or what I call ’quick fixes’, which can best be defined as ‘true wealth’. Money to fulfil dreams and desires. To be in love and to be loved. Material things for a relatively short duration of time that give you a sense of joy or relaxed moments of ‘feeling good’.
For an example, money can buy happiness to a degree or it can buy you a status in society. But each dollar makes less and less of a difference once you achieve financial freedom as well as feed, cloth and house yourself. Scientists find that wealthier people are happier but once their basic needs are met, dollars only seem to boost happiness if wealthier people have more than their colleagues, neighbours and friends. As money buys status, wealthy people feel better. But how much stuff do you really need to make you feel better? Money can’t buy you real, true happiness.
True happiness comes from within. It is an inner satisfaction, depending on how we think about our lives, our children and our grandchildren, our family and relations as well as our friends. It is an inner knowingness that can’t be described with words. Happiness is contagious. It is a vibration that we reflect to the world around us.
True happiness is measured by the richness of the soul and heart. It is discovering who you really are. Who you want to be. You choose and you pave the path to happiness by doing the things that bring you the most meaning, by doing the things that you love the most. What brings contentment into your life. A happy person is someone with a certain set of attitude and not a person in a certain set of circumstances.
Change your expectation to change your happiness. Think, say and act to reach inner harmony. Reaching this state within yourself enables you to profit from your highest, where you become unbounded. Where your inner nature has achieved a desired state of fulfilment regardless of external situations.
Be true to yourself, to reach this true state of happiness.
