To Avoid Genetically Modified Food, You Have To Go Organic!

Intensive farming has led to dramatic erosion over the last 30 years in the UK. In some areas there is a fall of about 70% of wild birds. Ancient hedgerows are destroyed, and not to forget the near extinction of certain types of frogs, grass snakes, wild mammals as well as some of the most beautiful species of butterflies. Organic farming helps, supports and encourages our beautiful country and diverse wildlife.

Not only do organic produce taste much better, but if you want to avoid eating GM (genetically modified) food, you have to go organic.

In the UK alone, there are about 100 different varieties of potatoes produced, and that are just the potatoes.

Compared to intensely farmed produce, average fresh organic products contain about 50% more vitamins, minerals, enzymes and many other micro-nutrients. Fruit and vegetables are very juicy, full of flavour and come in many different varieties to try. Conventionally grown apples have between 20-30 artificial poisons on its skin, which cannot even be rinsed off.

If you do eat dairy or meat, you should be aware that the intensively reared dairy cows as well as other farm animals are fed a dangerous combination of antibiotics, anti-parasite drugs, growth promoting drugs, and many other medications on a daily basis whether they suffer with any illness or not. Passing these drugs directly onto you, the consumer of dairy produce and meat has been said to be responsible for some meat related conditions such as high blood pressure and coronaries.

The numbers have gone up drastically and research states that in the UK about 99% of non-organic farm animals are now fed GM Soya. In organic cattle there has never been a reported case of BSE.

Some more interesting facts:

We pay for our conventional foods through our taxes, therefore organic food isn’t really any more expensive.

Billions of pounds are spend every year cleaning up the natural water supply which is contaminated by agro-chemicals.

And what about the BSE crisis? Didn’t that cost us 4 billion pounds?

It has never been more necessary to go organic to safeguard you and your family’s health.
