Self-Healing | Listen to Your Body

Self-Healing | Listen to Your Body

By Viola Woolcott

We all know it, pain is certainly an unavoidable part of our lives. It seems to intrude into more places as we grow older. And there are also some people who experience pain all the time. I do hope that you are not one of them.

But if we wouldn’t have pain, we would simply die. In response to a trauma, when we are injured, the muscle as well as other soft tissue close to the injury contract. It is a natural protective process that is programmed into the body to help in the support of possible further damage. Experiencing pain is the body’s alarm system informing us that there is something wrong and that it needs our attention. I always welcome pain instead of cursing it, as it is ‘telling’ me something. To many, pain or the “call for help” by the body in crisis involves unnatural procedures from sources outside the body I.e. running to the doctor, who in many cases treats the symptoms but ignores the actual underlying problem or the cause of trouble. Have you ever noticed that when you consult a doctor you are given three choices of treatment which normally include drugs, cortisone shots and/or surgery. Personally I don’t believe that we are destined to eternal pain if these three choices don’t appeal to us.

It is a well known fact that the body desires to be well and by knowing this fact, we can remind and encourage ourselves that it is always possible to make the necessary changes within ourselves that contribute towards total wellness. We are all capable of incredible feats of self-healing because the body remembers what it is like to be well.

All the information for healing ourselves is within us. It is carried to each developing cell in its DNA from the moment of conception. Therefore every single cell in our body contains the knowledge of healing itself.

We must respond to our body’s request for help by remembering and believing that we can heal ourselves. Only than can we experience the remarkable changes that take place within our body. We want to be well and the body will do all it can to heal itself.

You always have a choice!!
