Respect Raises a Persons Value

Respect Raises a Persons Value

By Viola Woolcott

The word Dignity means worthiness, the quality of being worthy or highly valued and it rests on the assumption that your life is significant. It means feeling that you are worthy. Not meaning feeling worthy to receive, but feeling worthy in yourself, having something to give to others, which is valuable. Goodness to someone means to increase his/her dignity. Feeling that you yourself are of adequate value that with being in the lives of others makes a significant difference. It also shows that in a way it makes a meaningful connection as it implies that you like being with others.

To be treated with disrespect is a painful experience for most people. Disrespect humiliates. Respect raises the person’s value, therefore his/her dignity. Even if people do not seem to show any dignity themselves, you can still treat them with dignity. Quite often that helps them to restore a sense of dignity by the way that you treat them. Try to be understanding, respect them, honour their journey and the place in their life.

The first step to begin doing goodness to others is to ask for forgiveness, as it will increase the other person’s dignity. Another act of goodness is thankfulness. The greatest goodness (and which always increases dignity) is admiration and care as well as excitement about another person. These actions are parts of love.

Conditions, which I would call ‘Inhuman’, take away the opportunity to experience and express our dignity. The freedom to experience resides in the best within our human nature as well as being able to share that. When we have the consciousness to express our soul nature our dignity is enhanced. Only on that level can we deeply experience the importance as well as the value of our being and this is in the relationship we have with ourselves as well as with the relationship we share with others.

Being purpose-driven beings and if we saw purpose, reason in it, we would find it much easier to tolerate pain and suffering, disappointment and hardship. Purpose and reason gives value and meaning as well as importance to things and also to people and experiences. Wouldn’t we rather experience hardship than have no importance?

Often people carry feelings of no importance when they suffer from depression. It seems challenging for us to go to deeper levels of our soul, where the value of our own experiences can be found and where purpose can be discovered. Depression can be used purposefully by going to deeper levels, as it lets us find the value as well as the importance that resides within our own being.

By being able to overcome challenge and adversities, you build courage and develop self-esteem to do what may have seemed impossible to some. It also enables you to find the positive side of every difficult situation, as you are aware that you can learn and grow from it.

We all go through tough times where we will be tested for our courage, our values as well as our beliefs. Maybe you are like me, a person with a correct level of respect for myself, than you will refuse to accept defeat without doing your very best.
When you have learned the truth about yourself, when you carry the truth with dignity, when you are internally free, only than are you free.

The movement of soul within should not be resisted as you could become ill, experience accidents, suffer emotional pain and even struggle with money or work and not to forget relationships. It is important to explore how to act in response to the very basic desire that attracts us to becoming conscious and compassionate human beings.
