Not Afraid to Die

Not Afraid to Die

By Viola Woolcott

We are all here for a reason and we need to find the equilibrium, the balance of our life before we die.

To me personally it means that we have to go back to our soul base, as it is obvious to me that during our lives we often live as though as we are only an ego rather than soul.

Before departing this world, we need to permit our true inner self or soul to re-possess our personal nature and we can do this by recognising what is essential.

Acting opposing to our own desires in life, we have not responded to soul impulses when we were able of doing so. No one is excused from this, but we all need to accept full responsibility for our own actions, choices and experiences.

Some practices for doing this are honest self-disclosure and producing an account of our life’s deeds as well as our experiences. At times this has been formalised in different traditions as a confession. The outcome of this ought to lead us into the healing process of forgiveness. Of course, self-forgiveness as well as forgiveness of others where it is suitable.

Taking on responsibility involves an acceptance of forgiveness. An understanding of the requirement for the experiences we rejected in order to learn. An appreciation for the opportunity to manifest soul more fully. Forgiving does not mean that there was something wrong and that now, I will not pay any attention to it. It just means that forgiveness accepts. Forgiveness understands. Forgiveness appreciates. It flows from the wisdom and compassion of the soul within. It becomes apparent what we need to learn to grow.

That we are not prepared to take responsibility is a sign that not all is right in our natural tendency what we project onto others and life. It indicates that we are not in harmony with ourselves.

Don’t we all blame others and of course life for what happens to us? For the things we do not like? For all the things that happen? Our life is OUR life. It is OUR responsibility. Taking total responsibility for OUR life means taking total responsibility for everything in OUR life - as in a literal sense, the whole world is OUR creation.

Whatever we project we take as an external fact, where really our projection we can take as a mirror as to whatever we project. I think that it takes wisdom to recognise it as our own and that we must take it back and own it.

Provided that we permit ourselves to go through it, there is a natural as well as healthy process that occurs as we move towards death. It’s a time most critical of rectification that soul is able to have an effect on our personality and that is to stop us from projecting.

As a consequence of this natural personality withdrawal from the outer world that accompanies our preparation for death is an inner re-balancing procedure within our consciousness and with that process we stop blaming others as well as victimising ourselves. This goes along with growing acceptance of self and of life as well as impending death.

In a sense the inner differences then diminish, as soul understands the experiences of life with gratitude, whether they are of positive, negative, blissful or even painful nature.

Experiences are opportunities for greater completeness. Soul sees this and leaves behind judgement, no matter of what we think about our experiences or how we feel about them. What judges itself is personality and with death approaching we have the wonderful opportunity to let go of self-judgement and to allow ourselves the natural soul influence of being in harmony and to adjust within our consciousness. Consequently we have the ability to move through the “deathing” process with greater ease and in peace.
