Confident or Arrogant - What are you?

Confident or Arrogant - What are you?

Posted by Viola Woolcott

Self-confidence is an attitude. It allows us to have positive, realistic views of ourselves as well as situations that involve us. No matter what happens, self-confidence shows that we have control over our lives and our abilities. That we are able to do what we set our minds to with a positive outcome.

But that doesn’t mean that self-confident people always expect to be able to do everything alone or even do everything correctly. They are aware of when they need help and they are more than willing to recognise it.

Even if you are confident, that doesn’t always mean that you are confident in every aspect of your life. Maybe you are self-confident at home, but not at work. During one situation, but not at another. We all have different areas in our life’s where we feel more confident.

How about speaking in public? You may be, but what about when it’s time to play sports? How about with people you know? Or with people you don‘t know? Do you feel insecure? Or maybe even lonely?

There are lots of people out there who generalise and think that if they are unable to do a particular thing, that they lack self-confidence. But isn’t self-confidence or lack of it context-specific?

Have you ever thought about examining different areas of your life to work out how confident you are in each area?

Lets say you use a 1 to 10 scale. Would you say that you may be a 6, which I would class as somewhat confident, in knowing that you attract and manifest success in your life? How about knowing that you are a beautiful person. 1 would mean no confidence at all. Or how about knowing you are a 10 in public speaking. That would mean you are very confident.

Isn’t it natural to feel uneasy about situations you don’t have total control over? Or if you don’t know much about a certain subject? There are these people who think they know all the answers. Who think that they can solve anything. Who think that they can control everything. These people are all else but confident. They are arrogant, as confidence does not exclude modesty and respectfulness..

  1. Great post. It’s interesting to know that building self-confidence can be as easy as ABC. Interestingly enough, www.confidencebuildingcourses.com offer good tips too. Might be interesting to check it out.
