Chlorophyll in a Plant Based Diet Provides Most of the Nutrients You Require
By Viola Woolcott
Thinking about changing from an animal based diet to a plant based diet may leave the question where you obtain your vitamins and minerals as well as proteins and fats. The chlorophyll in green leaves will provide you with most of the nutrients that you require. They are the richest in natural vitamins and minerals as well as being the richest foods in easily utilised calcium.
Green leaves are an extremely rich source of potassium which is a mineral that lacks in the processed diet of industrial society. Potassium and sodium are in balance, potassium being much more than sodium – this is the natural order of things. By processing foods, the mineral rich and the potassium rich part is lost. That means that lots of sodium in the form of salt, sodium bicarbonate (bicarbonate of soda) and a number of other sodium salts are piled on which causes serious imbalance in the body with the impact of experiencing serious consequences resulting in numerous health problems.
Just to name a few, green leaves are a great source of zinc, manganese cobalt, copper and many other minerals that are essential for us. Except perhaps for Vitamin B 12, they are a rich source of the whole B complex.
